Range: coastal Peruvian foothills near Lima
The Rose blindsnake is a rare species found in coastal Peru, growing up to 27 cm in length with a thin cylindric build and blunt, rounded head that is only barely wider than the neck and slightly flattened. The tail is very short and blunt, with almost no taper at all before the short spine tip. Dorsal scale count is approx.. 268, scale row count 14 reduced to 10 caudally. Coloration is a distinctive and fairly uniform reddish-brown dorsally, fading to yellowish or cream on the ventral side, and the head may be grayish. This species can be distinguished by its relatively uniform color without striping and large supraocular and supralabial scales that both tend to contact the labials.
Habitat: found in low foothills in sand or under rocks, logs, and leaf litter.
Prey: likely ant and termite larvae.
Lifespan and reproduction: lifespan unknown, likely under 10 years. Oviparous.
