Adlumia fungosa is commonly known as Allegheny Vine or Climbing Fumitory, a distant but obvious relative of the more familiar Bleeding Hearts native to but classed as threatened or endangered in most of the northeastern quarter of North America, growing in cool, humid canyons and cliff faces. A biennial, it forms a small rosette of fern-like leaves its first year, storing energy for the second when those fern leaves rise up along a vine that may reach 13 feet or more high, all along the length of which bundles of small, heart-shaped light pink flowers appear. Flowers usually self-pollinate, and release seeds that will reestablish in good locations for the next generation.
Packets contain approx. 10 seeds each; seeds may sprout with cool conditions or may appreciate a 4-6 week cold stratification first.
