A very strange South African bulb that is supposedly quite rare in the wild, hailing from mountains bordering the summer- and winter-wet regions; thus, it frequently grows evergreen. Bulbs sit above the soil surface, covered in papery sheaths and sporting one to several long, flat and often curving leaves up to 2 feet in length. Given seasons, particularly cool dry winters, they may be triggered to produce a spike bearing 3-inch, pinkish to bright scarlet tube flowers. Plants even in suboptimal conditions will often offset bulbs liek crazy, filling pots with amusing piles of growth.
3 sizes of bulb available: large 1.5-2 inches, medium approx. 1 inch, and small bulblets.
