A native species of Prickly Pear cactus found through much of the western half of the US, particularly the southern Great Plains. Plants may reach up to 2 feet tall with broad, very spiny pads up to 12 inches wide, and in spring to mid-summer will produce large, most likely yellow (but possibly orange or pink) frilly flowers that eventually turn into small red fruits known as "tunas." These tunas have small bristles on them that must be removed, and many large seeds, but have edible deep pink-purple flesh inside.
Packets will contain approx. 15 seeds.
