A lot of controversy and confusion surrounds the neotropical P. foetida group, though this is likely one of the true forms of the species. Plants are fuzzy vines with lobed arrowhead leaves that can grow to 10 feet high or more, bedecked by glandular bracts (giving rise to the notion that they may be proto-carnivorous plants) that surround developing buds. Those buds open up into two inch wide, purple-white blooms with lavender filaments, that frequently self-pollinate to develop small inch-long fuzzy green fruits. There's not much in them, but the fruits and seeds inside are edible. A subtropical species, they don't appreciate more than light frost and do best in warm conditions year round
Packets contain approx. 10 seeds, which may benefit from scarification to germinate.
